Palworld 1.0: Every Legendary Pal Change & Buff Explained
Jetragon moved. Frostallion Noct spawns wild now. The Legend passive got buffed, work suitability values jumped across the board, and the Palpedia was renumbered. Palworld 1.0 touched every single legendary Pal — here's exactly what changed, Pal by Pal, with before-and-after data from the wiki.

System-Level Changes Affecting ALL Legendary Pals
Before diving into each Pal, understand these six system-wide changes. They affect every legendary you own — whether caught before or after the 1.0 update.
Legend Passive Buffed
+20% ATK/DEF, +15% SPD
→ +25% ATK, +20% DEF, +15% SPD
The Attack boost jumped from 20% to 25%. Every legendary Pal hits harder now.
Elemental Emperor Passives Buffed
Ice Emperor, Divine Dragon, Lord of the Underworld, and Celestial Emperor all received damage increases. Elemental damage went from +20% to +25%. This compounds with the Legend passive buff — legendary Pals with both passives got a double damage upgrade.
Level Cap: 65 → 80
The global level cap increased from 65 to 80. Legendary Pals now scale higher than ever before. Jetragon's boss level went from 60 to 70 — the highest wild Pal level in the game. Endgame encounters demand more preparation.
Condensation: 116 → 48 Pals
Max-ranking a legendary Pal now requires 116 → 48 copies — a 59% reduction. Combined with the capture bonus reduction (12 → 5 catches for max bonus), maxing a legendary is faster than ever.
Capture Bonus: 12 → 5
You only need 12 → 5 catches to max out a Pal's capture bonus. For legendary Pals that only spawn as single Alphas, this is a massive quality-of-life change — you hit max bonus in less than half the time.
Work Suitability Expanded to 10 Levels
Work suitability now scales to level 10 (up from 5). This is why every legendary Pal's work skills jumped: Gathering 3→8, Cooling 4→7, Lumbering 2→6 — these aren't raw buffs, they're re-scaled values for the new 10-level system. But the practical effect is the same: legendary base Pals are significantly more productive.
Jetragon — Level 70, Moved to Sunreach, Aerial Missile Buff
Dragon
Lv. 60 → 70
Palpedia: 111 → 202
LOCATION CHANGEDJetragon got the single biggest individual stat shake-up of any legendary Pal in 1.0. Its wild Alpha spawn moved from Mount Obsidian to Sunreach, its level jumped from 60 to 70, and its Gathering work suitability more than doubled. Jetragon remains the fastest flying mount in the game at 3,300 sprint speed, but the new location and higher level demand a fresh approach.
Location Change
Jetragon's Alpha spawn migrated from Mount Obsidian to Sunreach. The new coordinates are (-553, -1332). Sunreach is a late-game volcanic region — bring heat-resistant armor, Ice-type Pals, and Legendary Spheres. The old Mount Obsidian spawn is gone; if you're flying there from muscle memory, you're wasting a trip.
Stat & Skill Changes
- Level: 60 → 70 — now the highest-level wild Pal in the game
- Aerial Missile: Partner skill attack values scale from 13→26 across condensation levels. The rapid-fire missiles received a damage buff.
- Stats: Base HP 110, ATK 140, DEF 110 — unchanged in 1.0, but the level increase means the Alpha encounter has more total HP and damage
- Passives: Legend + Divine Dragon. Both got buffed (Legend: +20%→+25% ATK; Divine Dragon: elemental damage up)
Work Suitability
Gathering: 3 → 8. This is a massive jump — Jetragon went from a mediocre gatherer to one of the best in the game. At Gathering 8, it's now competitive with dedicated gathering Pals, though most players will still use Jetragon as a mount rather than a base worker.
Pro tip
Bring Ice-types to counter Jetragon. Frostallion's double Ice advantage (Ice Emperor + Ice attacks) shreds through Jetragon's Dragon typing. A well-bred Frostallion with Ice Emperor can solo the level 70 Alpha Jetragon in under two minutes.
Frostallion Noct — Level 65, Now Spawns at Wildlife Sanctuary!
Dark
Breed Only → 65
Palpedia: 110b → 200b
BIGGEST 1.0 CHANGEThis is the single biggest Pal change in the 1.0 update. Frostallion Noct went from breeding-only to a wild Alpha spawn at No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary. For players who spent dozens of hours breeding Frostallion + Helzephyr to get one, this is both vindication (you were right to want it) and a new shortcut (now you can just catch one).
The Big Change: Now a Wild Alpha Pal
Frostallion Noct now spawns as an Alpha at No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary, coordinates (689, 648), at level 65. Prior to version 0.4.11, it could only be obtained through breeding Frostallion + Helzephyr. The 1.0 update solidifies this as a permanent wild encounter.
The breeding combo still works (Frostallion + Helzephyr = Frostallion Noct), and breeding is still the better route if you want specific passives. But if you just need a Frostallion Noct for your collection or as a Dark-type mount, catching the Alpha is significantly faster.
Stat & Skill Changes
- Level: New wild Alpha at level 65
- Passives: Legend + Lord of the Underworld. Both buffed — Legend ATK 20%→25%, Lord of the Underworld elemental damage increased
- Base Stats: HP 140, ATK 140, DEF 135. Unchanged — Frostallion Noct remains one of the tankiest legendary mounts
- Black Steed: Partner skill converts player attacks to Dark element and boosts Dark attack damage up to +100% at max condensation
Work Suitability
Gathering: 4 → 7. Frostallion Noct is now one of the best dedicated Gathering Pals in the game. Its high movement speed means it covers large plantations faster than smaller Pals, and with no other work suitabilities, it won't get distracted by other tasks.
Catch vs Breed decision
Catch the Alpha if you just need a Frostallion Noct now. Breed if you want specific passives (Swift, Runner, Serenity). The Alpha comes with Legend + Lord of the Underworld guaranteed, but its other two passive slots are random. For a competitive build, breeding is still the way to go.
Frostallion — Ice Emperor Buffed, Cooling Upgraded
Ice
Lv. 60 (unchanged)
Palpedia: 110 → 200
BEST DEDICATED COOLERFrostallion's location and level stayed the same — still at Astral Mountains (-357, 509) at level 60 — but its role as a base Pal got a huge upgrade. The Cooling work suitability jump from 4 to 7 makes it the best dedicated cooler in the game, and the Ice Emperor passive buff compounds with the Legend buff for a noticeable combat improvement.
Location & Level
Unchanged. Frostallion still spawns as a level 60 Alpha at the Astral Mountains, coordinates (-357, 509). It was raised from 55 to 60 in patch 0.4.11 and stayed at 60 in 1.0. Bring Dragon-type Pals — Frostallion's Ice attacks hit hard against anything that isn't Fire or Dragon.
Stat & Skill Changes
- Ice Emperor Passive: Elemental damage increased. Combined with Legend's ATK buff (20%→25%), Frostallion hits harder than pre-1.0
- Base Stats: HP 140, ATK 140, DEF 120 — unchanged
- Ice Steed: Partner skill still converts player attacks to Ice, boosts Ice attack up to +100%, and increases player ATK up to +40% at max condensation
Work Suitability — The Meta Shift
Cooling: 4 → 7. This is the change that matters most for base builders. At Cooling 7, Frostallion is the best dedicated cooling Pal available. Unlike Whalaska (which splits attention across multiple work types), Frostallion has only Cooling — it will stay on your fridge or cooler 24/7 without wandering off to do other tasks.
Base builder tip
Post-1.0, a single Frostallion with Cooling 7 can maintain multiple refrigerated structures simultaneously. Pre-1.0 you needed two or three cooling Pals for a large base — now one Frostallion handles it all. This frees up a base slot for another worker.
Necromus — Level 60, Desiccated Desert, Work Skills Massively Upgraded
Dark
Lv. 60 (unchanged)
Palpedia: 109 → 199
FROM ZERO TO HERONecromus went from a decorative base Pal to a genuinely useful dual-worker. Both Lumbering and Mining jumped from 2 to 6 — a 3x improvement in each. It still spawns at the Desiccated Desert alongside Paladius, and the dual-boss encounter remains one of the most challenging and rewarding fights in the game.
Location & Level
Unchanged. Necromus spawns as a level 60 Alpha at the Desiccated Desert, coordinates (447, 679). It spawns alongside Paladius — you'll be fighting both legendary centaur Pals simultaneously. Bring Neutral-type Pals for Paladius and Dragon-types for Necromus.
Stat & Skill Changes
- Lord of the Underworld: Dark-element damage buffed — compounds with Legend's ATK increase
- Base Stats: HP 130, ATK 145, DEF 120. Necromus has the highest base Attack among all legendary Pals at 145
- Dark Knight of the Abyss: Partner skill enables double-jump while mounted, with movement speed increasing up to +20% at max condensation
Work Suitability — The Game Changer
Both work skills got massive upgrades:
- Lumbering: 2 → 6
- Mining: 2 → 6
At level 6 in both Lumbering and Mining, Necromus is now a viable dual-worker for your base. Pre-1.0, its work skills were too low to justify using a legendary Pal at base. Post-1.0, it's competitive with mid-tier dedicated workers — and it brings the Legend and Lord of the Underworld passives as a bonus.
Paladius — Level 60, Highest Defense Unchanged, Work Skills Upgraded
Neutral
Lv. 60 (unchanged)
Palpedia: 108 → 198
STILL THE TANKPaladius shares the Desiccated Desert spawn with Necromus and received the same work skill upgrades — Lumbering and Mining both from 2 to 6. Its defining trait remains unchanged: Paladius still has the highest base Defense in the game at 145. Nothing else comes close.
Location & Level
Unchanged. Paladius spawns as a level 60 Alpha at the Desiccated Desert, coordinates (447, 679). It spawns alongside Necromus — prepare for a dual-boss fight. Necromus is aggressive and fast; Paladius is slow but tanky. Take out Necromus first.
Stat & Skill Changes
- Celestial Emperor Passive: Neutral-element damage buffed. Combined with Legend's buff, Paladius hits harder
- Defense: 145 base — still the highest in the game. No change needed
- Base Stats: HP 130, ATK 120, DEF 145 — the classic tank stat spread
- Holy Knight of the Firmament: Partner skill enables triple-jump while mounted, movement speed up to +20% at max condensation
Work Suitability
Same upgrades as Necromus:
- Lumbering: 2 → 6
- Mining: 2 → 6
Paladius is now a viable dual-worker, though its slower movement speed (800 run speed vs Necromus's 1,300) means Necromus is still the faster base worker of the duo. Paladius compensates with its legendary tankiness — it won't get knocked out by random raids while working.
Dual Encounter Strategy
Paladius and Necromus spawn together in the Desiccated Desert. Necromus is the priority target — it's faster and hits harder. Use Neutral-type attacks against Paladius (it resists nothing but has high DEF). Dragon-types handle Necromus. Bring both element types and focus Necromus down first.
Neptilius — The First New Legendary Since Early Access
Water
Lv. 60 (unchanged)
Palpedia: 155 → 201
THE NEW KIDNeptilius is the first new legendary Pal added to the game since the Early Access launch. Introduced in patch 0.6.0 and carried into the 1.0 release, it's the newest face in the legendary lineup — and the best aquatic mount period. With 1,800 swim speed and 2,000 dash speed, it outruns every other Pal in water.
Location & Level
Neptilius spawns as a level 60 Alpha at the Isle of the Glacial Core, coordinates (139, 651). The Isle of the Glacial Core is a snowy island surrounded by water — fitting for a Water-type legendary. Bring Electric-type Pals for the elemental advantage.
Stat & Skill Changes
- Base Stats: HP 105, ATK 145, DEF 125. Shares Necromus's title for highest attack among legendaries at 145
- Lunker Passive: Neptilius's unique passive. Boosts certain stats — combined with Legend for a strong dual-passive core
- Sentinel of the Great Sea: Partner skill enables rideable water travel, spear-strike follow-up attacks, and high jumps over water. Swim speed increases up to +25% at max condensation, with spear strike cooldown decreasing from 3.6s to 1s
Work Suitability
Watering: 4 → 7. At Watering 7, Neptilius is competitive with Jormuntide and Ghangler for watering tasks. However, since Jormuntide is much easier to obtain (and also has Watering 4 in the old scale), most players will stick with Jormuntide for base watering. Neptilius's real value is as an aquatic mount, not a base worker.
Best aquatic mount in the game
Neptilius's 1,800 swim speed and 2,000 dash speed make it unmatched in water travel. The high-jump ability while swimming lets you clear islands and obstacles that other water mounts can't. If you spend significant time on Palpagos's oceans, Neptilius is a must-have.
How These Changes Affect the Meta — Tier Implications
Raw stat buffs are one thing. How they shift the meta is another. Here's how the 1.0 legendary changes ripple through mount tiers, combat viability, base building, and breeding strategy.
Mount Tier
- • Jetragon still the fastest flyer (3,300 sprint). Legend buff makes it faster. Xenolord now lets you use weapons while mounted — Jetragon still doesn't.
- • Frostallion / Frostallion Noct share 1,800 sprint speed. Elemental choice matters more than speed delta between them.
- • Neptilius is the undisputed aquatic speed king at 1,800 swim / 2,000 dash. No other water mount competes.
- • Necromus (1,900 sprint) is the fastest ground legendary, edging out Paladius (1,800) for land traversal.
Combat Tier
- • Legend buff (+20%→+25% ATK) means every legendary hits ~5% harder than pre-1.0.
- • Necromus (145 ATK) and Neptilius (145 ATK) tie for highest legendary attack stat.
- • Paladius (145 DEF) remains the tankiest Pal in the game — no competition.
- • Elemental Emperor buffs compound with Legend buff: Ice/Fire/Dark/Dragon legendaries all hit meaningfully harder.
Base Worker Tier
- • Frostallion (Cooling 7) — best dedicated cooler. No distractions, 24/7 fridge duty.
- • Necromus / Paladius — viable dual-workers (Lumbering 6 + Mining 6). From useless to useful.
- • Jetragon (Gathering 8) — surprisingly good gatherer now, though most will use it as a mount.
- • Frostallion Noct (Gathering 7) — high movement speed makes it excellent for large plantation layouts.
Breeding Meta
- • Frostallion Noct now catchable — eliminates the breeding gate for Dark-type chains.
- • Condensation reduction (116→48) means max-ranking a legendary is 59% faster. Speed breeding + condensing is the new endgame loop.
- • Legend passive inheritance is now higher-value (25% ATK) — makes it worth breeding onto non-legendary Pals via chain breeding.
- • Philanthropist passive makes mass breeding viable. Pair with the empty-slot strategy from the speed breeding guide.
FAQ — Common Questions About Legendary Pals in 1.0
Can you still breed Frostallion Noct?
Yes! Frostallion + Helzephyr still produces Frostallion Noct eggs. But now you can also catch a wild Alpha Frostallion Noct at No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary (level 65, coords 689, 648). Catching is faster if you just need one; breeding is better if you want specific passives like Swift or Runner.
Where did Jetragon move to?
Jetragon now spawns at Sunreach (coordinates -553, -1332). It was previously at Mount Obsidian. The new spawn is in a late-game area — come prepared with Ice-type Pals and Legendary Spheres. Jetragon is now level 70 (up from 60), making it the highest-level wild Pal in the game.
What level do I need to fight legendaries in 1.0?
Most legendary Pals are level 60, except Jetragon (level 70) and Frostallion Noct (level 65). You should be at least level 55 with optimized gear, elemental counters, and Legendary Spheres. Bring Ice-types for Jetragon, Dragon-types for Frostallion/Frostallion Noct, and Neutral-types for Paladius.
Is the Legend passive still worth it?
Absolutely. Legend now gives +25% Attack, +20% Defense, and +15% Movement Speed (buffed from +20%/+20%/+15%). It is still a mandatory passive on every legendary Pal — for combat builds, speed builds, and even base worker builds. The buff actually made it stronger, not weaker.
Which legendary Pal got the biggest buff in 1.0?
Frostallion Noct — by a wide margin. It went from breeding-only (requiring Frostallion + Helzephyr) to spawning as a wild Alpha at level 65 in No. 3 Wildlife Sanctuary. Its Gathering work suitability was also upgraded from 4 to 7, and the Lord of the Underworld passive got buffed. No other legendary Pal saw this many changes in a single update.
