Frostallion Noct is the ONLY legendary that breaks the same-species rule.
Every other legendary requires two of the same Pal to breed. Frostallion Noct is unique — you must pair a Frostallion with a Helzephyr to produce it. Two Frostallion Nocts cannot breed together. This also means Frostallion Noct can inherit the Lucky passive from the Helzephyr parent — the only legendary that can hatch with Lucky naturally.

Breeding Mechanics Overview
Understanding the core breeding mechanics helps you plan your legendary Pal breeding strategy. Here is how the key systems work in Palworld 1.0.
Breed Power: Each Pal has a hidden breed power value. When two different Pals breed, the game averages their breed power values to determine the offspring species. This is why Frostallion (breed power 120) is harder to produce through chain-breeding than Necromus (breed power 70). For legendary Pals, same-species breeding bypasses the breed power calculation entirely.
Egg Types: The egg type is determined by the offspring Pal's element. Huge Dragon Egg for Jetragon, Huge Frozen Egg for Frostallion, Huge Dark Egg for Frostallion Noct and Necromus, Huge Common Egg for Paladius, and Huge Damp Egg for Neptilius. All legendary eggs take approximately 2 hours to hatch on default incubation settings.
5 of 6 are same-species only
All eggs hatch in ~2 hours. Highest breed power: Frostallion (120). All share the Legend passive. The one exception — Frostallion Noct (Frostallion + Helzephyr) — is covered in the note above.
